Rihanna was unable to attend this year’s star-studded Met Gala due to her advanced pregnancy. Despite her absence from the event, the singer earned the Met Gala honour of a lifetime when she was memorialised in a marble statue at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The singer was surely not forgotten, as a colossal monument of her was unveiled during the Met Gala, replete with a pregnant belly. The monument was presented in an Instagram video released by Vogue, after Rihanna’s cover of this month’s edition.

“The statue of ‘Eirene (The Personification of Peace)’ is usually the most prominent marble goddess at the @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries,” the caption read with the video. However, we now have @badgalriri, fresh off the cover of this month’s Vogue.” RiRi also shared the film on her Instagram, writing, “shut down the marble meeting!” What could possibly be more golden than that? Lol!”

Rihanna’s video amassed millions of views and a favourable reception from her fans and followers. “Wasn’t even in attendance & still made an effect!” British fashion designer Hayden Williams wrote. This is incredible.” “Wow!! “, model Jasmine Sanders, a.k.a. Golden Barbie, added. This is incomprehensible. Iconic. Everyone else has a chance to save it.”
