Don’t let your fans begin to feel sorry for you; instead, retire now, says Frank, a former Chelsea player.

According to Newspremises, Cristiano Ronaldo, the star forward for Manchester United, has been urged to retire from the game of football.

Chelsea icon, Frank Leboeuf, offered the words of wisdom after the renowned Portugal skipper was seen cutting a dejected figure during Manchester United’s Champions League round of sixteen match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Apart from the World Cup, Ronaldo has won every other major trophy available for club and country. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

In addition, the 37-year-old has scored a whopping 689 goals in 926 games during his career and has been awarded the Ballon d’Or five times.

Since his return to Manchester United, the Portuguese forward has scored 15 goals in 29 appearances for the club.

However, it is becoming increasingly clear that his prime years are behind him, and Leboeuf believes that the superstar has reached the point in his career where he should be seriously considering retirement.

The World Cup and European Championship winner, Frank, said it’s “possibly time for Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of his career to wonder and have a discussion with himself, and maybe some of his family,” to figure out what to do with the rest of his career and whether or not there is a future for him in football.

“I don’t want to look at Ronaldo and feel sorry for him because he’s been at the top for so long,” I said.

“I don’t want him to be a typical athlete,” says the coach. He’s been a standout performer for a very long time.

“I’d rather him to retire at the height of his game rather than attempt and play for two or three more years while not being the player that he used to be,” he remarked.
