Jordan Ayew has assured Ghana President Akufo Addo that the Black Stars will be fully committed to the World Cup.

Jordan Ayew, a Crystal Palace forward, has pledged his support to President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar.

As part of his business trip to the United Kingdom, Nana Akufo-Addo had a meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Downing Street.

In a brief visit to the Selhurst Park on Monday, President Akufo-Addo took in Arsenal’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace, which was won by Ayew and Schlupp’s Crystal Palace.

After Jean-Philippe Mateta had opened the scoring for the Eagles, Ayew – who had not scored since December of last year – increased the lead for the visitors.

Palace went on to defeat their London rivals 3-0 in the last game of the season.

Immediately following the game, Ayew met with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo in London to discuss the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2019 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

He assured President Akufo-Addo of his commitment to the future of the four-time African champions, who were previously represented by Olympique Marseille.

Following the brief meeting, Ayew presented President Akufo-Addo with a Crystal Palace shirt, which he wore throughout the meeting.

Following a thrilling 1-1 draw against Nigeria at the Mashood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday, Ghana secured their place in the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.

Despite a first-half goal from Thomas Partey being cancelled out by a penalty kick from Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, both teams were able to come away with a point from Abuja.

The victory secured Ghana’s qualifying on away goals after the first leg, which was held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, ended goalless.

Ghana would need to raise their level of performance if they are to have any chance of making an indelible impact on the competition, having been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
