Liverpool presently feature probably the strongest and most in-depth front line in world football.

Jurgen Klopp presently has Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz at his disposal.

Liverpool, though, according to a report in 90Min, are now chasing another “great” forward.
According to the newspaper, the Reds are one among several Premier League clubs interested in Ajax and Brazil sensation Antony.

Liverpool have apparently been watching the 21-year-old since his time at Sao Paulo.

The Anfield scouts were been ‘hugely impressed’ by how he has adapted in Europe and his subsequent improvement.

As well as Liverpool, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly targeting Antony.

It is thought the player’s representation have suggested Antony’s aim is to play in the Premier League.

Can Liverpool beat Premier League rivals to “incredible talent”

Antony, a left-footed winger, prefers to operate from the right and cut in devastatingly.

He has 11 goals – one more than Sadio Mane had this season – and eight assists in 25 games for Ajax in 2021-22.

Antony has also been impressive in the Champions League this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists in the league.

Erik ten Hag, Ajax’s manager, said in December that retaining the attacking ace beyond this season would be difficult.

“From a sports standpoint, it is obvious that he is a fantastic talent,” Ten Hag told 90Min.

“He is undergoing an amazingly wonderful transformation.

“Especially if we perform well in the Champions League, it is evident that he will gain attention and be of interest to a large number of clubs.”

UOL Esporte reported in September last year that Ajax valued Antony at roughly £34 million.
