The long-awaited champions league quarter-finals began last night with two matches in Portugal and France.
Manchester City visited Sporting Club in Portugal, while Paris Saint-Germain hosted Madrid in the Parc de Prince.
Manchester City appeared to have discovered a walkover away from home as they embarrassed Sporting in front of their fans by scoring five goals.
In Paris, on the other hand, World Cup winner Kylne Mbape scored a late home goal to give Pochettino the victory over the Ancelloti men.
And, judging on what transpired at Parc du Prince, it is reasonable to conclude that Mbape’s statements two days prior to the match were fulfilled.
The 23-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid next summer, was recently asked if he will speak with his potential teammates during their tournament visit.
His response was unequivocal; he stated that despite the fact that nothing prevents him from speaking with them, he will not; the only thing he will do is beat them.
Even though I am free to do so, I will not approach our adversaries. I’m concentrating on defeating Real Madrid, and then we’ll see.” As Mbape stated.
It was clear how Mbape battled against all obstacles to keep his vow, having done so in the last minutes of the game.
