Antonio Rudiger, a centre-back for Chelsea, is close to completing a free-transfer move to Real Madrid this summer.

When his initial salary expectations were 12 million euros (about 10.1 million pounds) each season, it appeared that this agreement would be off the table entirely.

The fact that the top European teams were unwilling to pay these sums, on the other hand, caused the 29-year-old to significantly lower his demands.

The outcome of this is that Los Blancos have established themselves as the clear favourites to acquire Rudiger, and he is expected to join the club this summer to bolster their options in central defence.

Rudiger may be able to complete the move this week.
Over the past few days, negotiations have taken place, and an agreement that had appeared to be unachievable is now on the verge of being reached.

Madrid want to offer Rudiger a four-year contract, and an agreement might be reached as early this week, though the agreement will not be officially signed until the end of the season.

The need for this signing has grown increasingly apparent in recent weeks, first and foremost as a result of the club’s lack of top-level options at center-back.

As a result, while Carlo Ancelotti has three superb centre-halves in David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Nacho Fernandez, Jesus Vallejo is not in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, and Dani Carvajal was forced to come in against Chelsea.

Additionally, Rudiger’s outstanding performance at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu convinced Real Madrid to recruit him this summer, and a deal is expected to be completed soon.

On Sunday, following Chelsea’s 1-0 win against West Ham United, Thomas Tuchel stated that Rudiger will be departing the club at the end of the season.

“The situation is that he wishes to quit the club,” says the coach. “He informed me of this in a private conversation,” Tuchel explained.

“We offered everything we had – myself and the club – but we were unable to continue fighting due of the acts.

“We would at the very least be able to continue fighting if the sanctions were lifted, but our hands are constrained.” We don’t take it personally at this point. “It is all up to him.”
