Liverpool might have signed a long-term successor for Sadio Mane as early as this week.

Luis Diaz, formerly of Porto, has joined Liverpool for a fee of £49 million.

Because Diaz, like Mane, is a left-sided attacker, it’s likely that the Merseysiders are planning forward for the day when the Senegalese international leaves the Premier League club.

And, if a fresh transfer report is correct, Jurgen Klopp may have found Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement as well.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, according to Sky Germany.

The former Arsenal youth has had a meteoric rise in recent years, helping the German superpower win the treble in the 2019-20 season.

If Liverpool is truly interested, the Germany international will almost certainly be Salah’s replacement.

Gnabry, who is three years younger than Salah, is a right-sided attacker, and with Diaz already signed, the 26-year-old couldn’t possibly play anyplace else in Klopp’s team.

With only 12 goals in all competitions this season, Gnabry – who cost £6.8 million – has a long way to go before he can match Liverpool’s attacking prowess.

He did, however, score four goals in a Champions League win over Tottenham Hotspur a few seasons ago, demonstrating that he’s more than capable of finding the back of the net at an alarming rate.

Salah could end up staying at Anfield and extending his contract, which expires in 2023, but if the Gnabry rumor is true, this is Liverpool hedging their bets.

MUNICH, GERMANY – FEBRUARY 05: During the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern München and RB Leipzig, Serge Gnabry (L) of Munich is tackled by Angelino (C) and Josko Gvardiol (R) of Leipzig.
