Egypt has advanced to the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations after a hard-fought victory over Ivory Coast.

As expected, the game got off to a fast start, with neither team creating many chances in the first half.

The second hall was even more intense, with Egypt pushing far more of the assault and missing some apparent cur opportunities.

After 120 minutes of football, it came down to a penalty shootout, with Eric Baily of Manchester United being the unlucky guy.

Sallah took advantage of Baily’s error to score and advance Egypt to the next round of the competition.
